Delhi Court Grants Interim Bail To Umar Khalid For 14 Days To Attend Sister's Wedding (X @HateDetectors)
New Delhi: The Delhi court has granted interim bail to Delhi riots conspiracy accused and former JNU scholar Umar Khalid for 14 days to attend his sister's wedding. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Sameer Bajpai said that Khalid will remain on bail from December 16 to December 29.
In its statement, the court said, "Considering the fact that the marriage is of the real sister of the applicant, the application is allowed and the applicant is granted interim bail from 16.12.2025 to 29.12.2025 on furnishing of personal bond of Rs.20,000/- with two sureties of the like amount subject to the following conditions."

As per the court order, Umar Khalid has been instructed not to use social media during this time and to meet only his family members, relatives and friends.
The court further said, "Further, he shall remain at his home or at the places where the ceremonies of marriage as mentioned by him will take place."
It is to be mentioned here that additional sessions judge Sameer Bajpai granted the interim bail to Khalid. Notably, the bail has been granted on furnishing of personal bond of Rs 20,000, with two sureties of like amount. He has been granted bail from December 16-29.
It is to be noted here that Khalid was arrested in September 2020 and was charged with criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, rioting and other offences under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Meanwhile, Umar Khalid was earlier granted interim bail for seven days in December 2024 in order to attend his cousin's wedding.
For the unknown, Umar Khalid has been jailed for over five years, along with Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider, and Gulfisha Fatima under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Notably, they have been jailed over charges in connection to the 2020 northeast Delhi riots.
It is to be noted here that the Supreme Court on December 10 reserved its verdict in the bail plea filed by Khalid and five other accused in the case.
